On this site we provide myriad solutions to pest problems, but there are always more to be had. This page will detail just a few more helpful items that we know of and recommend in certain situation. On this page we offer…
Various Baits
Boric Acid Ant Bait
We offer Drax Ant Baits which are typical of boric acid baits. Drax comes in two special formulas: a sweet mint-Gel with boric acid (used to kill sugar eating ants); and a special Protein Formula bait with boric acid (used to kill grease, fat, and meat-eating ants). The Gel formula is also available as a liquid in bait station cups.
Determine what ants you have by setting out a snack of jelly or peanut butter prior to ordering. If your ants go for the jelly, they are sugar-eating ants; if they go for the peanut butter, they are protein-eating ants.
Using Drax Ant Baits is an effective way to provide long-term control of ants indoors and out as it addresses the problem at the root, meaning the colony’s home instead of just killing the foragers. Both formulas, containing, Orthoboric acid as the active ingredient, are consumed by foraging ants, brought back to the colony, fed to the queen and to the young. The ants soon die. Moreover, the dead ants will often be consumed by others in the colony, and they, too will perish.

Various Traps
Disposable Fly Trap
These Rescue! Disposable Fly Control Traps are really simple to use: cut the seal, pull out the top, crush the ampule, add water, and hang. That’s all there is to it.
Each trap will capture anywhere from 15,000 to 20,000 filth-breeding flies. No mess, no bother. And they will catch flies effectively for months, depending on the severity of the fly problem in your area. When it’s full, close the top, and throw it away.
Their applications range from the backyard to the horse barn, from the kennel to the compost pile, used alone or in concert with fly parasitoids. Feedback has been very positive. And it has been tried and proven, again and again, in all of the above-named situations, with consistent results.
Effective, efficient, easy to handle, and easy on the budget, too. Start out by trying 1 trap for every 2-4000 sq. ft.

Yellow Jacket Traps
Yellow jacket wasps, a beneficial social species useful as scavengers and predators or pestiferous insects, can be a real annoyance to people. They are greatly feared by many, and can sometimes be a very real threat. That’s where the Rescue disposable yellow jacket control trap comes in hand. Using a special attractant, this trap draws yellowjackets inside. There, they are trapped. No mess, no fuss. No chemicals. No painful stings.
Other ways to control yellow jackets without chemicals or trapping includes: spraying them with cold water from a hose (which doesn’t kill them, but does knock them senseless for quite a while); or, in rural areas by placing honey next to their in-ground nest in the evening so that animals such as raccoons and skunks, drawn by the honey, may dig up and destroy the nest for more. Regardless of what method of control you try, we urge you to be careful. Yellow jacket wasps can deliver a painful sting if they feel threatened. If you are hypersensitive to stings, or suspect that you may be, please consult a professional.

Solar-Type Fly Trap
For large-scale commercial use, the corrosion resistant, aluminum, Solar-Type Reusable Fly Control Trap works best. It’s large, sturdy, and will last for years.
The solar-type fly traps work by luring filth-breeding flies to a feeding bowl from which they fly upward through a metal cone into the trap. Once inside, they can’t get out. Trapped, the flies eventually die of dehydration as they are “cooked” in the sun.
Each trap comes with a 4-5 week supply of a specially formulated yeast based “stink bait” which must be mixed and fermented prior to use (a 1 gallon milk jug works well for this process). Replacement bait packs are available. Hint: Save freight money be buying enough bait for the season or, you may wish to try concocting your own formula.
Other baits such as dog food (in summer) or rotted fruit (in spring and fall) may attract and trap yellow jacket wasps. Deer flies and horse flies may also be trapped in solar-type traps. However, thorough control of the above mentioned pests is not likely.
In a large fly control program, the best results will be obtained not only by using fly parasitoids to reduce on-site fly numbers, but by trapping inbound flies, too. We’ve gotten a lot of feedback stating, matter-of-factly, that the integrated approach to fly control works; with an average cost: about $10 per horse or cow for the entire summer, but will depend upon farm size. Use one or two of these traps per every 100 horses or 50 cows.

BioBlend Seed Mix
Sow this special mixture of seeds in or around your cash crop and treat your biocontrol agents to something special. The flowering plants in BioBlend provide nectar and pollen for your beneficials, assuring they have a balanced duet, a place to seek refuge and reproduce, and a place to feed and feel comfortable.
BioBlend, in this regard, serves as a trap-crop. It lures pestiferous species away from your valuable crops. If a battle between good insects and bad is going to take place, it is a good idea to offer them a battlefield in which to war — a battlefield away from your plants. BioBlend may also attract indigenous beneficials such as the syrphid or hoverfly.
BioBlend contains a mixture of alfalfa, alyssum, carrot, celery, clover, daikon, dill, eriogonum, fasiculatum, fennel, gypsophila, nasturtium, radish, and yarrow. (Mixture may vary.)
Use along isles and under benches in a greenhouse, outside the greenhouse (but not near ventilation intakes), also surround fields, border gardens, or create a haven, or special “diversity area” with its own microenviroment. Sow at the rate of 1oz. per 100-200 square feet. We recommend planting enough BioBlend to egual 2-5% of your cash crop area.

Bat Houses
Bats consume approximately 300-500 mosquitoes in one evening (in addition to myriad other insects such as moths and beetles). In three months times that equates, on average, to 36,400 mosquitoes. Multiply that by the 18 bats which could possibly be housed by one white cedar bat house and you will clear your property of approximately 655,200 mosquitoes in three months.
655,200 mosquitoes barely puts a dent in the mosquito population in many areas. However, it helps. If used in combination with Mosquito Dunks, you may find that you’ll actually be able to venture out of the house on a summer evening without whirling around in circles, puffing maniacally on a cigar.
Bats are our friends. They are feared by many people. However, they are creatures which are useful to humankind. Unless you are a mosquito lover, be neighborly, give your bats a home in the country with one of these natural, white cedar bat houses.
Use 2-4 bat houses per acre, or more in heavy mosquito country. Suspend each bat house on the side of a tree or structure, facing east, approximately 12-15' off the ground in an area with a source of water. It can take 1-3 years for bats to establish themselves in a new bat house. Complete instructions and hanging hardware are included with each unit.
