The half-liter is no longer available unless a suitable packaging replacement is uncovered.
The much-loved soil-dwelling predator Hypoaspis miles, which if you purchase the popular Canadian product produced by Applied Bio-nomics by way of one of their importers — like us — has long been available in two sizes: a liter bottle containing 25,000 mites, and a half-liter bottle containing 12,500.
The half-liter bottle, due to a lost supplier, is now out of stock and the possibility of replenishment seems bleak. The good folks at Applied Bio-nomics are searching high and low, and they are trying different packaging, but thus far have come up empty-handed. The main problem is they are on Vancouver Island, British Columbia (BC), and finding a plastics supplier, besides the lone supplier they had, is darn near impossible. Nobody ever said island living is a cake-walk. There are inherent logical challenges. And the different packaging have tried hasn’t yet yielded acceptable results — “Hypos” can be difficult to accommodate in several ways. We know.
Anyway, the moral of this story is quite simply this: The half-liter is no longer available unless a suitable packaging replacement is uncovered. We may be able to supply split liters but are yet uncertain of this. We’ll keep you posted. We like the half-liter size so we, for one, wish them luck in their quest. The half-liter wasn’t the most popular size that is a given to us, but for those who like it, it will be missed.
