Regarding Downtime
For now, we apologize to anyone who tried to gain access to the site and couldn’t due to the outage.
Anyone who tried accessing this site anytime Sunday quickly realized we weren’t up. The problem we were told by the people who manage our physical servers is that the server this site is on developed some bad blocks. We, as GHXonline.com the web hosting provider, are pretty disgusted by all this and plan to take action — this isn’t the first time this has happened.

New Style Family
We hope you enjoy the new style.
It’s taken a little while to get this done, but at last a new style family has been added to this website — as promised. This one is called “Georgia.” And like the default version “Bamboo,” this style also has a dial-up cousin called “Georgia Lite.”

New Forest Threat
So far, the spread of P. ramorum in nursery stock has caused an emergency
I just received this from the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Station (APHIS) branch of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). They are hoping to raise awareness about a new forest and nursery disease threat called Phytophthora ramorum. Here is the original announcement:

Leptos ARE Back!

In the news item posted previously, “Are Leptos Really Back?!,” I referenced an article called “What’s New, What Works: Mealy Defense” by Suzanne Wainwright-Evans (the The Bug Lady), printed in Interiorscape Magazine (Jul.-Aug., 2005). And as noted in that news item, the article left me wanting more info. Apparently more information was supposed to be printed by the magazine, but was inadvertently omitted. The magazine will correct this oversight within the next month or two, but in the meantime I have some great news!

Are Leptos Really Back?!
Is it back?! The article suggested that L. dactylopii are once again being produced and distributed
I just finished reading an article, “What’s New, What Works: Mealy Defense” by Suzanne Wainwright-Evans (The Bug Lady), in Interiorscape Magazine (Jul.-Aug., 2005). It was a very well-written piece, typical of her writing. In one sense it left me begging for more.
