Website News

Posted April 2nd, 2006 by Mike Cherim

Here is a bit of website news. The first item you may be well aware of — shockingly so perhaps, provided you’ve been here before and are accustomed to the old style. The second item you’re probably not aware of, but I want to share it with you all the same. Here’s the first item:

New Default Style

I suppose you’ll either love it or hate, but in either case, I’m sure you’ve noticed the new style. I’m calling it “Environments” in honor of one of the things the Green Methods protects: the environment, yours, mine, and ours. I hope you like it. I made it the new default style for the site so convinced am I you’ll like it.

If you don’t like it — if you find yourself longing for the old style — it’s okay, I have good news. That style is still available. You can select it from the User Settings page — ’tis called “Bamboo” and it’s yours if you want it. You do need to accept a cookie, though. Details are on that page. If for some reason you’re not seeing the new style, please refresh or reload a couple of times. You can also clear your cache. No worries, though, you’ll see it eventually.

We’re in the News

Web developer news, that is. A friend, colleague, and Accessites.org supporter, Andy Saxton posted in a thread on the Accessify Forum pointing out that GreenMethods.com was featured in a United Kingdom-based Web Design magazine called Web Designer for its accessibility. Lovin’ that for sure.

There’s no link available at this time, but I do have a link to a scanned image of the article that you can check out. GreenMethods.com is one of four websites featured. The others are the Royal National Institute of the Deaf, RNID, Imagine.org, and the Disney Store (United Kingdom), though the latter has reverted back from its accessible, standards-compliant version (as noted here) to its old version which is actually quite lacking. This topic did make news in some circles and angered many.
