Our 2008 Catalog’s Available

Posted December 19th, 2007 by Mike Cherim

On schedule, on time, and ready for the new year, our 2008 catalog is now available and ready to be sent to you upon your request. A single copy of the catalog is free (one per address) if you’re located in Canada or the Untied States, all you have to do is ask. We’d send it free to others as well, but most countries cannot buy from us without a permit, and postage costs are outrageous. Thus we have a limit.

Please note: If you’re an existing customer and you ordered from us within the past couple years, we have sent you a copy automatically. Some of you, in fact, may have it already.

Procurement Alternatives

Due to the reality of limitations, we do offer alternatives:

  • If you’re not located within the US or Canada and want a copy, please call 603-942-8925. The first catalog copy will still be free, but we will charge for postage.
  • If you’re located with the US or Canada and want multiple copies sent to your location, you may call 603-942-8925 to order copies, or you may just order them online.

This Year’s Changes

There are two primary changes as it concerns our 2008 catalog:

Reduced Page Count
First we reduced the number of pages from a 48- to 40-count. To get this done we stripped out a lot of fluff and editorial content — like our edufictional story (anecdote) which will be posted here very soon. We feel this content is important, but we wanted to save on printing costs (which get higher and higher by the minute).
Reduced Pricing
The second change, which is in part supported the first change, is our pricing: We reduced it significantly. Our aim is to be more competitive and reach more people. Wish us luck. These price changes will show up in our online shop very soon. We plan to make the changes during our holiday break.

The Cover Story

This year’s cover is a photo taken from the garden. It features a cherry tomato plant tied to a commercial garden stake with bits of pantyhose. Pantyhose make great tomato plant support ties being so soft and stretchy. The main photo was divided vertically with the top half mirrored in vertical reverse below. The actual cover image was about about 32 megabytes when export in the Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) used for print jobs.

Old Catalogs

Want a number of catalogs for a class or other group event? Give us a call. As a way of reusing overprint leftovers, we will readily give out older catalog for such events. We currently do this for several universities and other organizations so if this interests you, please get in touch and we’ll send you a box of catalogs.

[…] Since our 2008 catalog is out there, it was time to update the pricing on this web site to match. Both are done. And in general, on average, our pricing has dropped significantly. Some items stayed the same, and some went up, but these are in response to rising costs or abnormal handling charges (we have to pay). Everything else went down. Some items enough to notice. […]
