Hypoaspis Discounted Again
As we did at the first of the month, we’re again offering the thrips- and fungus gnat- predatory mite Hypoaspis miles for sale at a discounted price. Many of you took advantage of our last sale, but not as many as we expected. We realized after talking to many of you that we were a tad too early. The weather, we’re told, has been the cause of season-starting delays. Consequently we decided to offer this one again — hopefully our timing is better. Offer good through Mar. 7th, 2008 (read conditions).

The BugwoodWiki Launches
Being that we’re into technology, we love seeing others in our industry embrace some of what is offered out there in the wired world. And that’s what the The University of Georgia’s Bugwood Network is doing: They started the BugwoodWiki. A wiki, just in case you’re wondering, is a community powered and supported internet reference site or collection or pages. It’s defined by Wikipedia, the undisputed mother of all wikis, as follows:

Apple Maggot Control Bags
About a month ago one of our site’s visitors, Brook G., asked if we had heard of a product referred to as “apple maggot control bags.” Admittedly we hadn’t, but we were intrigued. She recommended them and because of that we decided to seek more information. After all, any non-chemical option to control apple maggots, or any pest for that matter, is always welcome and is probably something we should be clued in about.

End Bug-Seller Shuck and Jive
We talk to maybe fifteen to twenty people per year who had already taken the plunge into biocontrol and Integrated Pest Management (IPM), failed at it, dropped out, but are back to give it another go because they like the quantity and perceived quality of our supporting information. They felt they weren’t given enough info when they dealt with their previous beneficial insect supplier. That’s what they know. What they don’t know, as we sometimes learn, runs deeper and is more damaging still.
