Hypoaspis Discounted Again

Posted February 25th, 2008 by Mike Cherim

As we did at the first of the month, we’re again offering the thrips- and fungus gnat- predatory mite Hypoaspis miles for sale at a discounted price. Many of you took advantage of our last sale, but not as many as we expected. We realized after talking to many of you that we were a tad too early. The weather, we’re told, has been the cause of season-starting delays. Consequently we decided to offer this one again — hopefully our timing is better. Offer good through Mar. 7th, 2008 (read conditions).

The BugwoodWiki Launches

Posted February 20th, 2008 by Mike Cherim

Being that we’re into technology, we love seeing others in our industry embrace some of what is offered out there in the wired world. And that’s what the The University of Georgia’s Bugwood Network is doing: They started the BugwoodWiki. A wiki, just in case you’re wondering, is a community powered and supported internet reference site or collection or pages. It’s defined by Wikipedia, the undisputed mother of all wikis, as follows:

Apple Maggot Control Bags

Posted February 15th, 2008 by Mike Cherim

About a month ago one of our site’s visitors, Brook G., asked if we had heard of a product referred to as “apple maggot control bags.” Admittedly we hadn’t, but we were intrigued. End Bug-Seller Shuck and Jive

Posted February 11th, 2008 by Mike Cherim

We talk to maybe fifteen to twenty people per year who had already taken the plunge into biocontrol and Integrated Pest Management (IPM), failed at it, dropped out, but are back to give it another go because they like the quantity and perceived quality of our supporting information. They felt they weren’t given enough info when they dealt with their previous beneficial insect supplier. That’s what they know. What they don’t know, as we sometimes learn, runs deeper and is more damaging still.

Reusing Foam Boxes, Bubblewrap, and Ice Packs

Posted February 6th, 2008 by Mike Cherim

Recycling is a really terrific pro-environment practice: metals like steel and aluminum, plus glass, plastics, and other wastes, are all recyclable. This is good since the practice saves us a lot in terms of natural resource consumption and the subsequent pollution resulting from manufacturing. Recycling doesn’t eliminate resource consumption or the pollution, but it helps. Recycling is often not the best course of action, though. There’s one better: Reuse.

Posted February 1st, 2008 by Mike Cherim

We hinted in our “Clean Up Before You Green Up” blog post that this special was coming and we weren’t leading you down a primrose path. The sale is now: Our famous predatory mite, Hypoaspis miles, is now on sale at a significant savings below our already low price so this is a great time to stock up, but this sale won’t last for ever. This special is good through Feb. 8, 2008.
