Last Minute Praying Mantis Sale

Posted June 16th, 2008 by Mike Cherim

Now On Sale! We offer praying mantises, Tenodera aridifolia sinensis, as egg cases, and in the best interest of these insects, it’s best they go into the garden in June. We like to sell out around this time. After June they’ll still hatch, but numbers will go down and the poor mantids won’t be able to reach reproductive maturity in some parts of the country. That’s why we’re putting them on sale again. They need a home.

As we said last time we put these guys on sale, mantids, are not particularly good as biocontrol agents, but they are very cool. We want you to feel comfortable about buying them, and they’re great for the money, but we don’t want you to have the wrong expectations from your purchase.

This sale is effective until the ordering deadline on June 27th, 2008, and will apply to orders placed by phone, fax, or made online. This is an in-stock item so we can ship immediately. To order this item online, here’s the mantids’s shop entry. If ordered on the 27th, they will ship that day if you can get your order in early enough. Otherwise they will be shipped on July 7th or 8th as we will be, as usual, closed the first week of July (see our schedule for more).
