Well, it is for us next week. Specifically we will be closed the week of June 29th through July 3rd. Make that the 27th through the 5th if you count weekends. We do — it sounds better. We’re nuts to do this, we know, but we’re too small and too lean a company to even let one person take the week off while trying to keep the doors open. Instead, since sometime in the late nineties, we just close the doors, pull the shades, and put out the Gone Fishin’ sign.
If our closure is inconvenient to you, we really are sorry. It’s always been a conundrum for us as we know we’re needed year ’round, but if we didn’t take two weeks a year (we do this at year’s end as well) you can imagine how cranky we’d get. We think this is the better solution. Someday we may become a big company, but for now we like who we are. Honest, simple business values, good information to help our customers succeed, and two vacation weeks a year.
If you want to order, please do. Our online shop is open with pleasant, smiling robots to greet you at the door. We will fulfill orders as quickly as we can upon our return, and we’ll see if we can pull a couple of favors from our suppliers to see if we can make things happen even more quickly. You know how it works: To take one week off you must work twice as hard the week before and the week after. Right? It’s a strange phenomena but it works.
If, by chance, you are saying, “but it can’t wait, my plants are massively infested,” please grab the safest spray you can find and use it, then read our Necessary Info section to learn that with biological controls you work more proactively and scout like the lives of your plants depend on it. You don’t get into situations where your plants are “massively infested.” Then come back to us next season or your next crop cycle. You’ll be in the know and we’ll hopefully be between vacations at that time.
To everyone, have a safe and happy Independence Day, and if you’re on vacation as well, have a good one. Catch a big one and tell us all about it when you get back.
