Using WordPress to Run a Website

For the past couple of years we have been using a web log publishing platform called WordPress to manage this ever-growing site. We love it, and WordPress is free, thus we feel we sort of owe them. A debt of gratitude to be paid by way of a positive nod right here on this blog. Before we begin we want you to know there are many options available besides WordPress, but we feel they offer the best of the best.

On Turning Green

I love green. It has always been my favorite color. My company is green, this web site is green, we do green things, and we sell green stuff. But as Kermit the Frog is known to say, it ain’t easy being green. It’s true. All that’s green isn’t gold, or taken in that light. Green, after all, is the color one turns when sea sick. This wonderful color also describes the cast of an envious person. Some mold is green (though that’s mostly okay). As you can see, there’s more than one side of green and not all of it is good.

New Critter: Swirskii for Thrips

New Bug! It’s taken us three years to jump on board, but we wanted to be sure of many things before we said “I do,” so to speak. But here it is, three years later, and we have finally decided to add a new critter to our line-up: Amblyseius swirskii. In a nutshell, A. swirskii is a predatory mite useful in the control of thrips predominantly, with whitefly following a close second, and with some impact to spider mites as a noted side benefit. This predator is useful and effective in a variety of greenhouse crops and holds a lot of promise. Stay tuned.
