Independence Day — the fourth of July — will soon be upon us. For us it’s always been a demarcation line of sorts. Being that for years our customers have been almost exclusively of the commercial plant-growing variety, the season would slow down for them, sales of plants done, and the season would consequentially slow down for us, too. Now, however, between parks and other institutions, interiorscapers, and more home gardeners finding us on the web than ever before (those sold plants are now in their, your, hands, perhaps), our season has been extended right through to the end. And we’re with you all the way. But first, here are two important announcements.
Us and the Holiday
That said, we should now tell that you we always close down for a week right around this popular US holiday (see our schedule). We literally shut the doors and go away, to recover, so to speak… we’re seriously too small of a company to do otherwise. Well this year we are shutting down, but less so than previous years. A crew is coming in to ship while we’ve recovering. So, while we will not be answering the telephone or responding to other forms of communication during the week of the 5th through the 9th — not being generally very helpful, we know… sorry — packages will be sent out and folks will get their bugs and goods.
Thank you for your understanding. Have a great holiday.
Now the Ladybug Announcement
We’re now shipping out the just-collected 2010 “summer beetles,” as the insiders say. That means our ladybugs (Hippodamia convergens) are super-fresh and capable of full term storage as per our ladybug instructions. This is the time of year when you can purchase large quantities of beetles — as you should so since you’re supposed to make lots of little releases — and use them the most effective way possible, with minimal storage loses. This is worthy of celebration!
Hmm, to celebrate, maybe we’ll put them on sale next week.
To be continued…
