Some Things Just Shouldn’t Be Sprayed

Is it worth it? In my opinion the idea of using sprays on certain crops is just plain wrong. To avoid any confusion, I’m using the word “sprays” as a collective term to cover all sorts of chemical and botanical poisons capable and in some cases engineered to kill or mitigate pests on plants. This would include sprays, dusts, granules, drenches, etc.

Be a Super Scout Sticky Traps Sale

Super Scout! Throughout this site, most notably in the Necessary Info section, we harp almost annoyingly about the need to scout your crops systematically, without fail, before you encounter pest problems. We stress that doing so can save your crops and your wallet. This is especially true with biocontrols that for the most part work best preventively or during the very onset of pests. Since we’re here to help folks succeed, putting sticky traps — an important scouting tool — on sale, more people might use them and enjoy the benefits of doing things right from the start. They’ll all become Super Scouts.

We’re So Cool, Follow Us on Twitter

Follow Us On Twitter! At the urging of some friends I’ve had a personal Twitter account since year one of the service. I never really used it — I couldn’t see the point — but I have been one of the cool kids all the same. That’s on a personal level. On a corporate level it seemed even more pointless, but being that so many people are using it nowadays, I have re-thought the company’s use of Twitter as an alternate, supplemental form of communication. Start Right: Winter Hypoaspis Sale

Yay, A Winter Sale! That’s right. Start off on the right foot in your greenhouse or growing space by treating your media — soil, peat moss, peat lite mix, etc. — with Hypoaspis miles. Doing so can save you some fungus gnat headaches, sometimes accomplishing this for the entire season with minimal releases. H. miles might also help you out with other pests such as pre-pupal thrips, springtails, and other media-dwelling pests. And maybe even spider mites if the suspicion is right.
