Praying Mantis Egg Case Sale
In the best interest of praying mantises it’s best that they hatch out of their egg cases near the beginning of summer. This allows time for development and reproduction before the season’s end. Moreover, hatch tends to be better and more reliable if the egg cases are sold and hatched sooner rather than later. Thus, to help secure the future of our remaining 2011 stock and encourage folks to act now, we’re having a limited time sale on praying mantis egg cases.

Two Ways to Save Big Money in IPM
Like a rock star I shout into the sea of people and ask “does anybody wanna save some money?” and with a resounding boom the crowd erupts into a single voice shouting *%^@ yeah we do! Okay, I’ll stop the rock star fantasy and ask you growers instead, from atop my orange crate. Hey, what do you know, same response. Rock on. It seems everyone likes to save. What follows are a couple ways you can save when using biocontrols in an IPM program.

Lacewing Larvae Sale
In the spring one of the biggest pest problems can be aphids — they like it on the cool side and enjoy new green growth so spring is the ideal time of year. Especially early spring. Here in New England we seem to be stuck in early spring so a sale on lacewing larvae (Chrysoperla spp.) seemed like a good idea. Aphids will be out and about and doing well, and in need of a good eating if you ask us. If you agree and have the need, this lar-vae in a bot-tle sale (as Sting might sing) will help.

Introducing Slug Shield Copper Barrier Mesh
There’s a new slug and snail control product that might offer an alternative to killing them off, however safely our excellent Sluggo iron phosphate bait does the job. Principally it’s similar to the slug and snail copper barrier tape we used to offer, except this new product is an expandable copper mesh strip.
