Write an Article! A few times a year we do this shout out calling to writers who grow and growers who write. We want you to write an article or two for us, to be published right here in this blog, and to be seen by all. We want to learn, and further teach, from the experiences you share. University-level research is extremely beneficial to our understanding of IPM, but truth is, we’ve gotten just as much from people just like you. Anecdotal evidence is what some will call it, but in our eyes it’s gold.

2011 Thanksgiving Ladybug Sale

We're On Sale! Due to the up-and-coming holiday in this week we decided that our ladybugs, Hippodamia convergens, would be an ideal item to offer on sale, logistically speaking that is. As a reminder, we will be closed Thanksgiving day and the day after. The holiday and our digestion closure are a challenge. Ladybugs are drop-shipped on our behalf so that makes life easier. It makes this sale doable.

Pre-Order 2012 Quad Bumblebee Hives Now

Order [Bees] Now... for 2012! Due to the plight of honeybees the demand for bumblebees for greenhouse- and field-crop pollination has been consistently high for several years now. This high demand used to mean one had to order our four-hive “quad” bumblebee hives — for outdoors use — months in advance. This has changed, one only needs to allow a couple of weeks of lead time now. That said, to ensure you have your quad hives when you need them, we still recommend ordering your next year’s hives now. We don’t want to see people disappointed they can’t have their bees immediately, and you don’t want to lose out on any crop pollination when the time is right.

Seems Like Winter Hort Oil Sale

All the snow we got at the end of October here in the northeast made us think of winter, and thus we figure it’s a good time to use horticultural oil as a dormant oil against orchard tree pests like scales and spider mites. That’s why we’ve decided to offer this product at a discount during this off-season sale.
