1. 2012 Catalog: Second Mailing
As we mentioned back in January, our 2012 catalog mailing was split into two parts: commercial and institutional customers getting theirs back then and retail “home gardeners” getting theirs in March. Plant Disease Prevention Sale
Lately we’ve really been on a kick promoting preventive practices by way of our specific sales offerings: monitoring traps, and whitefly and aphid parasitoids. And this next sale is no different, albeit this time the “pests” we’re encouraging people to prevent are various plant diseases. The following plant disease products, if used in a preventive way, can check the onset and spread of certain plant diseases.

Early Season Aphid Prevention Sale
It seems like we’ve started a sales trend. First we offer pest scouting supplies like traps and such to monitor or scout for pests early, then we offer whitefly parasitoids for the prevention of, well, whiteflies. Now we’re offering a discount on aphid parasitoids like Aphidius spp. and Aphelinus abdominalis (not detailed on site). If we keep this up people will end up preventing their worst pests this year and saving money while they’re doing it.

Early Season Whitefly Prevention Sale
If it’s not clear already, we’re big on using biocontrols preemptively: before pests show up and start taking over. While we’re not putting every preventive agent on sale — we wish that was possible — we are offering a discount on all of our preventive whitefly parasitoids. Specifically we are talking about Encarsia formosa (for greenhouse whitefly, Trialeurodes vaporariorum), and the E. formosa Nile Delta strain or Eretmocerus eremicus (for other common greenhouse-inhabiting species like sweet potato or silverleaf whiteflies, Bemisia spp.).
