Prevention is all the rage — at this time of year, especially. The thinking is that if you effectively prevent pests you can save yourself some headaches later on. It doesn’t always work, though. Sometimes it only delays the onset a few weeks, but generally it’s a sound, worthwhile practice. In light of this, and that many growers are “clean” right now, offering an aphid prevention agent is a good idea. Thus, we’re offering Aphidius colemani on sale for a limited time.

Winter is usually a dry time of the year and one that often sees spider mites raging out of control. Thus, it’s a good time to use spider mite predators to prevent or control these pernicious pests. And, since we know all of our customers do the right thing, acting preemptively before pest populations escalate, we’re discounting Neoseiulus fallacis — which just happens to be a great mite prevention agent.

The holidays aren’t our big time of year. We don’t sell video games, clothing, housewares, or any of the other popular gifting categories. And nobody gifts ladybugs or sticky traps for Christmas or Hannukah — thank goodness for that. But it doesn’t mean we have nothing to offer. We do. Due to the up-and-coming holiday in this week we decided that our ladybugs, Hippodamia convergens, would be an ideal item to offer on sale, logistically speaking that is. As a reminder, we will be closed Thanksgiving day and the day after. The holiday and our digestion closure are a challenge. Ladybugs are drop-shipped on our behalf so that makes life easier. It makes this sale doable.
