Product Description

Green Lacewing Larvae in Bottle – CHRYSOforce™ Rapid Biocontrol for Aphids

Green lacewing larvae in bottle format, as offered in CHRYSOforce™, are a fast and effective biological pest control tool. Containing 1,000 Chrysoperla rufilabris larvae per bottle, this format is designed for immediate deployment against soft-bodied pests in a wide range of crops. Lacewing larvae are known for their intense appetite and speed—making them ideal for spot treatments and reactive pest control.

Why Choose Green Lacewing Larvae in Bottle Format?

These predatory larvae target:

  • Aphids (multiple species)
  • Mealybugs
  • Thrips (early stages)
  • Whiteflies (eggs and nymphs)
  • Spider mites
  • Pest insect eggs

Each lacewing larva can consume dozens of aphids daily, making this biocontrol option both powerful and natural.

Where to Use Them

  • Greenhouses
  • Indoor facilities
  • Outdoor gardens
  • Crop rows
  • Fruit trees

Compatible Crops

  • Cannabis and hemp
  • Vegetables (leafy greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc.)
  • Strawberries, blueberries, and other soft fruits
  • Ornamentals
  • Nursery trees and shrubs

Easy Release Instructions

The larvae arrive mixed with buckwheat hulls to help distribute them evenly:

  • Gently shake the container to loosen contents
  • Open the bottle and sprinkle contents over pest-infested areas
  • Focus on the undersides of leaves and growing tips
  • Use immediately upon arrival; do not refrigerate

How They Work

Once released, the larvae actively search for prey. They pierce their targets and extract bodily fluids using their hooked mandibles. Active even in low light and cooler temps, they continue hunting day and night.

Monitoring & Effectiveness

The larvae are small and may be hard to spot, but their impact is visible. A noticeable reduction in aphid numbers, sticky residue, and curled leaves is typically seen within 48–72 hours.

Best Practices

  • Release in late afternoon or early evening
  • Avoid placing near yellow sticky traps
  • Eliminate ant colonies before release—they defend aphids
  • Repeat every 1–2 weeks if pests persist

CHRYSOforce™ green lacewing larvae in bottle format are the grower’s go-to for immediate pest pressure. Natural, non-toxic, and highly effective, this delivery method ensures rapid suppression of aphids and similar pests—without the use of chemicals or complicated equipment.

Release instructions for the use of Green Lacewing Larvae Chrysoperla rufilabris

*If you would like to observe the larvae, or check the contents of the bottle or bulk bag before release, sprinkle some of the contents onto a piece of white paper. You will see larvae crawling amongst the rice hulls. The larvae are shipped two different ways:

1. Bottle or bulk bag : Lacewing eggs are incubated at the insectary and upon arrival will have hatched into larvae. They are mixed with rice hulls for easy distribution and should be released the same day received. Simply sprinkle the contents over the target area. The bulk bag will come with a separate plastic scoop you can use to release the larvae.

2. Hexcel : pre-fed lacewing larvae are still developing inside individual cells also known as a “rearing frame” covered on both sides with organdy material. You can observe the larvae in the cells if you hold the frame into the light. The larvae should be released the same day received (no later than the following day) unless otherwise stated on your packing slip. Peel back one side of the organdy material an inch at a time and “knock” or “tap” the larvae out onto the target area. Next, peel off the organdy on the other side of the frame. You can lay the organdy and frame next to a plant to ensure any remaining larvae can crawl out and onto the plant(s).

The larvae will feed for approximately 10 to 14 days (depending on climatic conditions and available food source) and then pupate. You may wish to introduce more larvae at that time.
Do not cold store the larvae.
