Product Description

Steinernema feltiae Nematodes with NEMAforce™ SF
Natural Pest Control That Works

What Are Steinernema feltiae Nematodes?

Looking for an effective, sustainable solution to manage soft-bodied pests? NEMAforce™ SF offers robust, eco-friendly control of fungus gnats, western flower thrips, and other common greenhouse pests. These microscopic organisms provide consistent biological pest management for growers of vegetables, ornamentals, hemp, mushrooms, and other crops.

Target Pests

NEMAforce SF targets soil-dwelling stages of pests such as:

  • Fungus gnat larvae
  • Shore fly larvae
  • Mushroom fly larvae
  • Thrips (adults, larvae, and pupae)

Why Use This Biocontrol?

These nematodes exhibit a shallow soil-dwelling habit (0–3″) and an intermediate foraging strategy that combines ambush and cruising. Because of this, they’re particularly effective against active pests near the soil surface. Furthermore, they tolerate cooler temperatures better than other nematode species, working best between 50–78°F.

Additionally, these nematodes carry a symbiotic insect-killing bacterium, Xenorhabdus spp. Once they enter a pest’s body, the bacteria quickly kill the host. As a result, the nematodes can reproduce and continue hunting for more pests.

How to Apply NEMAforce SF with Steinernema feltiae nematodes

You can apply using standard sprayers or irrigation systems. First, remove fine filters, and keep the solution mixed during use. Always apply to pre-moistened soil, allowing the nematodes to move 1–2 inches below the surface. For foliage use, spray on overcast days, mist plants after, and maintain high humidity.

Adjust application volume as needed. NEMAforceTM SF should be applied in a sufficient water volume to thoroughly soak the soil or growing media, but not beyond the point where water overflows or leaches from the pot. For foliar applications, apply in a sufficient application volume to assure uniform foliar coverage, but do not apply to run-off.

Application rate and interval selected should be based on grower preference, management program, and crop growth characteristics. Regardless of program selected, applications of NEMAforce SF should begin early in the growth cycle for best results.

  • Applications should be made to moist soil or growing media.
  • Soil or growing media temperatures should be between 50ºF-86ºF (10ºC-30ºC).
  • If product is applied over foliage, irrigate immediately with plain water to wash nematodes into soil or growing media. Do not over irrigate to cause runoff from the tops of pots or flush nematodes through the pot.
  • In propagation areas, treat new plants as they are introduced.
  • Interiorscape plants should be treated prior to placement.
  • For foliar application:

  • Use of an approved spray adjuvant will promote improved application uniformity and allow nematodes to reach the pest more effectively.
  • Ensure that the crop remains wet for at least 2 hours following application by closing windows and ventilation.
  • Do not apply in direct sunlight. Use blackout curtains during and for at least 2 hours after application. If using artificial lighting, switch off during and for at least 2 hours after application.

    General Description:

NEMAforceTM SF is a naturally occurring insect parasitic nematode (Steinernema feltiae) that seeks out the larval stages of fungus gnats (Bradysia spp.), the adult and pupal stages of western flower thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis), and many other essential pest species.

    Directions for Use:

NEMAforceTM SF can be applied by using standard application equipment, including tank sprayers, backpack sprayers, and irrigation injection systems.
*Fill spray vessel or stock tank with half of the required amount of cool, clean water.
*Start agitation and add the required number of nematode trays.
*Continue agitation while mixing and fill the spray tank to the required spray volume.
*Maintain agitation during application to ensure uniform dispersion of nematodes.

NEMAforceTM SF can be used in a rotational program with conventional chemicals to reduce pest resistance.
