Product Description

Target Larger Aphid Species with APHIDIUSforce™ E

APHIDIUSforce™ E is your go-to solution for tackling early-stage aphid problems—especially when dealing with larger-bodied species. Designed specifically for Aphidius ervi low-infestation scenarios, this product contains mummified, parasitized aphids that release adult wasps shortly after introduction into your crop. It’s ideal for greenhouses, indoor grows, and climate-controlled facilities.

What Aphidius ervi Targets

Aphidius ervi specializes in parasitizing larger aphid pests, including the Potato Aphid (Macrosiphum euphorbiae), Foxglove Aphid (Aulacorthum solani), and Cannabis Aphid (Phorodon cannabis). Female wasps lay one egg inside each host aphid. As the larva develops, it feeds internally and eventually kills the aphid, transforming it into a tan-colored, hardened mummy. Within 10 days, a new adult wasp emerges and begins seeking new hosts.

Best Use Cases and Application Strategy

APHIDIUSforce™ E works best as a preventative tool or when aphid populations are still low. For heavier infestations, combine it with aphid predators such as Aphidoletes aphidimyza or Chrysoperla rufilabris for a well-rounded biocontrol approach.

These wasps are excellent at locating aphids before visible damage appears. Each female can parasitize dozens of aphids during her lifespan, making early releases especially effective.

Environmental Conditions and Release Timing

Aphidius ervi thrives in temperatures between 64–75°F but remains active slightly above or below that range. Since these wasps don’t rely on daylight cycles to function, they’re reliable year-round in indoor and greenhouse environments.

The product ships as mummified aphids, ready for immediate use. After release, adults emerge and begin hunting within hours. Thanks to strong flying ability and sharp host-seeking instincts, they can cover large growing spaces and adapt well to a variety of crops and layouts.

Supplied as mummified aphids, APHIDIUSforce™ E arrives ready for immediate deployment. Once released, the adult Aphidius ervi wasps emerge and begin searching for suitable aphid hosts within hours. Their strong flight capability and host-seeking behavior allow them to cover large areas and adapt well to various crop types and layouts.

Product Options and Release Recommendations

APHIDIUSforce™ E is available in 250, 500, or 1,000 mummy count formats. Choose your quantity based on the size of your crop and pest pressure. For continued control, plan for weekly releases, especially during the early growth phases when crops are most vulnerable.

Tips for Success

For the best results, remove yellow sticky traps for the first few days after release to avoid catching newly emerged adults. Also, address any ant activity before introducing the wasps. Ants protect aphids in exchange for honeydew and can interfere with your biological control program.

A Reliable Addition to Your IPM Program

APHIDIUSforce™ E delivers reliable, chemical-free aphid control that supports both plant health and ecological balance. Whether you’re managing cannabis, ornamentals, or vegetables, these beneficial wasps provide a smart, sustainable solution.

Release instructions for the use of Aphidius Colemani, Aphidius Ervi, A.Colemani/Ervi Mix and A.Colemani/Ervi/Aphelinus Mix

If you’ve received aphid “mummies” which have not yet begun to emerge, you may store the bottle at 64-80°F in a highly humid, shaded location until hatch begins (check twice daily). Allow up to 7 days for hatch.

When the “mummies” begin to emerge, release at sundown the same day. To release, open the container in the crop and allow the wasps to fly out on their own as you walk among the plants. You can speed up their exit by gently tapping them out. If they begin to exit too quickly or if dispersal control is not manageable (which may happen when they’re warm), re-secure the cap between release points. Concentrate the bulk of them at release points on or near the most heavily infested plants or where aphids are most likely to make
an appearance. For any that will not readily come out of the bottle, or if some remain non-emerged, simply tuck the bottle into the foliage of a plant, preferably one with the heaviest pest population. The “mummies” may also be sprinkled out. We recommend the removal of most yellow sticky traps prior to release.
Do not store the emerged adult wasps in the bottle for more than 18 hours. Hold at a humid 45-55°F (fridge best). Do not attempt to cold-store the wasps’ pupae for periods exceeding 72 hours.
