Product Description
Aphidoletes aphidimyza: Powerful Biocontrol for Aphids
Looking for a natural solution to manage aphid outbreaks? Aphidoletes aphidimyza, the active organism in APHIDOLETESforce™, is a predatory midge whose larvae feed on over 60 species of aphids. These beneficial insects are especially effective in outdoor crops and greenhouses where aphids are already present.
How Aphidoletes aphidimyza Works
Adult midges are harmless, mosquito-like flies that seek out spider webs to mate before laying up to 250 eggs in aphid colonies. After hatching, their bright orange larvae begin feeding on aphids by injecting a paralyzing toxin and then consuming them. Often, they kill more aphids than they eat. These larvae are easy to spot under leaves thanks to their color and are most effective between 64–77°F with relative humidity over 70%.
